Benchmarking your device with PPSSPP |

Benchmarking your device with PPSSPP How well does your device stand up to others? Want to find out? Just follow these steps and we can see how well different computers/phones/tablets perform on PPSSPP! 3.8ghz i7 5930K, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 4GB Nvidia GTX 970, Asus X99 PRO, Windows 7 (SP1) x64This thread is intended for entertainment purposes, not scientific testing. Keep that in mind since cube.iso/cube.elf isn't really the best benchmark. (It'd be nice if we had a standardised game to run like on Dolphin: they tend to benchmark The Wind Waker, but I dunno what game would be good to benchmark, so we'll stick with cube.iso for now). 1. Download PPSSPP 0.7.6 from here: http://www.ppsspp.org/downloads.html 1a. No git builds are allowed in this benchmark since the constant changes can easily give one platform a huge advantage over another. We're working on even ground here. 2. Download cube.iso(it's a legit homebrew distributed with JPCSP, and can be compiled from the homebrew PSP SDK) from here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwcSjM-J..sp=sharing 3. Change your PPSSPP settings as follows(if your system doesn't have a particular option, just ignore it and move on): Graphical settings: Render Resolution: 2x(not 1x, we want to see GPU performance more than CPU performance) Buffered Rendering: ON Hardware Transform: ON Vertex Cache: ON Linear Filtering: OFF Frame Skipping: OFF 2x SSAA: OFF Use Media Engine: OFF Stream VBO: OFF Draw Wireframe: OFF Audio: Enable Sound: OFF System: Dynarec(JIT): ON Fast Memory(Unstable): OFF Show Debug Stats: OFF Show FPS: ON Encrypt Save: ON 12HR Time Format: OFF Language: Whatever you're comfortable with 4. Run cube.iso, take a screenshot of your VPS(make sure you run it on unlimited! ), and post it here, along with the following info: System CPU(and speed in ghz/mhz): System RAM: System GPU type: System OS: System device type(PC, Tablet, Phone, other): 5. If we get enough entries, perhaps we can make a Google spreadsheet showing statistical info about our devices! 5a. Entries would only be accepted if they're complete like above, and using *0.7.6-release, no other builds. *We'll update the benchmark from time to time to include future PPSSPP official releases. RE: Benchmarking your device with PPSSPP I'd love to participate, however it seems like I don't have an unlimited VPS option anywhere on the version I have, even though it's the normal build. Am I just blind? |

RE: Benchmarking your device with PPSSPP Okay I know I've made an entry using my ancient Core 2 laptop, but I just tried it on my even older decrepit 8 year old Pentium 4 desktop rig running XP, and the results blew my mind. Seriously. PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-System CPU: Intel Pentium 4 630 3.0 GHz (with HT) System RAM: 1 GB DDR2 RAM System GPU type: ATI Radeon X800XL 256 MB GDDR3 VRAM System OS: Windows XP 32-Bit SP3 System device type: PC Seriously, I couldn't believe the VPS readings. My P4 rig scores higher in this test compared to my Core 2 rig which is on paper 4 times more powerful and has a gfx card that is on paper at least 3 times more powerful. It seems like Windows XP really is a hell of a drug lol, we may have to actually take into account performance differences introduced by different OSes. Also, it seems like AMD/ATI's older XP OGL drivers may be superior to their newer ones for Windows 7/8. (I tripled checked again and again for accuracy, and this is lowest measurement. All settings are as required by Daxtsu's first post.) Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz 16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:- Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz 8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 |
